Belleville Police – Incidents Include SIU Investigation, Driver Charged with Impaired, Fail to Comply

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 258 calls for service beginning at 5:00 am on January 30, 2026 to 5:00 am on February 2, 2026.

Notice of SIU Investigation
On February 1st, Belleville Police responded to a single motor vehicle collision in the area of Bridge St E and George St. Officers attempted to conduct a traffic stop of the vehicle for traffic violations. The driver of the vehicle refused to pull over and was involved in a collision.

As a result of the incident, the driver of the suspect vehicle was transported to hospital and the Special Investigations Unit (SIU), has invoked its mandate.

As such, the Belleville Police Service is unable to provide any further information. Any further inquiries should be directed to the SIU Communications.

Driver Charged with Impaired
On February 1st at approximately 5:00am, Belleville Police responded to a report of a single vehicle motor vehicle collision in the city’s north end. Upon arrival, officers spoke to the driver of the vehicle and observed signs of impairment.

As a result of investigation, Branden Skinner, 34-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 mg. He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in March.

Failure to Comply with an Undertaking
On January 30th at approximately 5:00pm, Belleville Police received a report of a male repeatedly communicating with a female party despite having conditions to not communicate with her.

As a result of police investigation, a 37-year-old Stirling man, was arrested and charged with failure to comply with an Undertaking.

He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in March.
