City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Driver Charged with Impaired Following Collision (Name Released)

Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation during a collision investigation.

On Sunday September 14, 2025 at approximately 00:27 am, officers responding to a call for service for a single vehicle collision. Officers were dispatched to Frank Hill Road near Highway 7 for a single vehicle stuck in a ditch, while on scene officers began an impaired driving investiga tion. The driver was charged with Criminal Code, Liquor License Act and Highway Traffic Act offences

Michael McNamara, 46-year-old of Peterborough, was charged with:

Operation while Impaired – Alcohol and Drug

Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration Over 80

Being Intoxicated in a Public Place

Fail to Surrender Licence

The accused is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Lindsay at a later date. The drivers license was suspended for 90 days and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.
