Cobourg Man Charged with Impaired

A 21-year-old Cobourg man has been charged with impaired operation.

On August 30, 2025, at approximately 3:20 a.m., police on patrol observed a vehicle idling on Church Street in the Town of Cobourg. As police approached the vehicle, the driver proceeded to drive forward and park on the grass area of Victoria Park. Through investigation, police formed a reasonable suspicion that the driver had consumed alcohol. As a result of the investigation, a 21-year-old Cobourg man was charged with the following:

Impaired Operation – 80 mgs plus
Fail to surrender Insurance Card
Drive Motor Vehicle in Contravention of Conditions
Fail to notify change of address
Fail to notify change of address – licence
Possess More than one licence
Drive Motor Vehicle – No currently validated permit
Drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor
The driver received a 90-day licence suspension, and his vehicle was impounded for seven days.

 

Cobourg Man Facing Mischief Charges

A 29-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges in an ongoing mischief investigation.

Cobourg Police Service has arrested a 29-year-old Cobourg resident after investigating reports of mischief to vehicles occurring at a downtown parking lot between March and August 2025. On August 31, 2025, police located and arrested the male without incident. As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old Cobourg man was charged with uttering threats to damage property and six counts of mischief under $5,000.

The accused was released on an undertaking with conditions, including the condition not to be on the property of the alleged offence location.

 

Cobourg Woman Facing Drug Charges

A 36-year-old Cobourg woman is facing drug possession charges after being arrested on a warrant.

On Monday, September 1, 2025, at approximately 6:40 p.m., uniformed officers as part of the Safer Streets Cobourg initiative were on patrol near King Street East and Green Street when they observed a woman wanted on an outstanding warrant. The woman was arrested, and following a search incident to arrest, various controlled substances were located on her. As a result, the 36-year-old Cobourg woman was charged with Failure to attend court while on a Release Order, three counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Methamphetamine, Fentanyl, and Morphine)

The woman was held in custody pending a Show Cause Hearing on September 2, 2025.

 

Port Hope Woman Facing Drug Charges

A 40-year-old woman from Port Hope is facing charges after police investigated a disturbance on Monday night.

On Monday, September 1, 2025, at approximately 9:15 p.m., an officer on general patrol was investigating a disturbance in the area of King Street and Division Street in Cobourg. The officer located an individual seated in front of a business holding a bag of what appeared to be cocaine and drug paraphernalia nearby. The officer attempted to arrest the individual who resisted.

As a result, a 40-year-old woman from Port Hope was arrested and charged with two counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance (Cocaine, Fentanyl) and obstructing a Peace Officer.

The woman was held in custody pending a Show Cause Hearing on September 2, 2025.
