Durham Regional Police – Suspect Attempts to Flee Scene on Electric Scooter (Name Released)

A 41-year-old male has been arrested for drug trafficking in Newcastle.

On Friday, June 6, 2025, members of East Division responded to an alarm call in the area of Grady Drive and Rudell Road. The suspect was at a construction site where he was trying to gain access to the office.

Once officers arrived on scene the suspect attempted to flee on an electric scooter. The suspect was taken into custody and a quantity of drugs was seized. The estimated value of drugs is more than $50,000.
Further investigation revealed that the suspect was responsible for property damage at the Newcastle GO station lot.

Ryan DASILVA, age 41, of Clarington is charged with: Obstruct Peace Officer; Mischief / Damage to Property Under $5000 and Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking Schedule I Substance x6

He was held for a bail hearing.
