Belleville Police – Incidents Include Two People Charged In Stolen Vehicle, Unprovoked Assault (No Names Released)

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 92 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on May 12, 2025 to 5:00 am on May 13, 2025.

Two people charged in stolen vehicle
On the 12th of May at 10:46am, Belleville Police received information regarding a stolen vehicle currently in the area of Yeoman St. Police searched the area and located the vehicle. Two people were located inside the vehicle. They were both arrested without incident. A 35-year-old female of no fixed address and a 48-year-old Belleville man were both charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and possession of stolen property over $5000. They were held for a bail hearing.

Unprovoked assault leads to arrest and charges
On the 12th of May at 5:35pm, a male was walking in the area of the Riverfront Trail on Front Street when he was approached by a male who proceeded to punch the victim in the head. The two parties do not know each other and the assault was unprovoked. The victim went to a near by business for assistance. Hastings-Quinte Paramedics attended to assist the victim with minor physical injuries. Police obtained a detailed description of the suspect and searched the area. When located, the suspect took off on foot. Following a short foot pursuit, the 25-year-old man of no fixed address was arrested and charged with assault and breach of probation. He was held in custody for a bail hearing.
