Officers from the Peterborough County detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged an individual with multiple charges after receiving a call regarding a domestic dispute.
On April 24, 2025, prior to 8:00pm, Peterborough County OPP Officers were dispatched to a report of a dispute at a residence in Peterborough County. Callers reported hearing screaming coming from a neighbouring residence and believed a weapon may be present.
Upon arrival, due to the concern of a weapon being present, officers closed off the area for public safety and took a position of containment. The victim was located and removed from the scene where they were able to be treated by EMS. The accused remained within the residence.
Just prior to 11:00pm, members of the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT) made entry into the residence where the accused was taken into custody without further incident.
A 35-year-old male was arrested and charged with;
· Assault with a Weapon
· Assault Cause Bodily Harm
· Assault – (three counts)
· Pointing a Firearm
· Imitation Firearm – Use while committing offence
· Possession of imitation weapon for Dangerous Purpose
· Failure to comply with Undertaking
· Breach of Recognizance – (three counts)
The accused was held for Bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Peterborough.
