Durham Police – Fatal Fire in Oshawa

An adult female and a child are deceased following a residential fire in Oshawa.

On Wednesday, March 12, 2025 at approximately 8:10 a.m., members of Central East Division responded to an active fire on McGrigor Street. Officers arrived on scene and located a male outside the residence. They were advised by him that an adult female and two children were still inside. Oshawa Fire arrived shortly thereafter and extracted the three parties. A 46-year-old female and 9-year-old female were transported to a local-area hospital where they succumbed to their injuries.

A 12-year-old female and 56-year-old male were also transported and have life-threatening injuries.
The Ontario Fire Marshal will be conducting an investigation.

Seven members of the Durham Regional Police Service were treated at a local hospital for smoke inhalation.
