Quinte West OPP – Brighton Man Charged Following Collision (Name Released)

A single vehicle collision in Quinte West has resulted in charges against two people.

Shortly after 10:30 p.m. on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, officers with the Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of a pick-up truck, rolled over in a ditch along County Road 40, north of Highway 401. The driver had fled the scene.

Officer s located the accused in another vehicle but were initially provided with a false name.

Nicholas JOHNSON, age 37 of Brighton, has been charged with:

  • Obstructing a peace officer
  • Careless driving
  • Failing to remain at the scene of a collision

This accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on March 20, 2025.

Thomas Johnson, age 39 of Marmora and Lake Township, has been charged with obstructing a peace officer. This accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on March 27, 2025.
