Quinte West OPP – Newcastle Resident Charged with Stunt Driving

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a motorist due to excessive speed.

On Tuesday February 18, 2025, just after 6:30 a.m., Quinte West OPP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 401 eastbound, in the City of Quinte West. The vehicle was observed traveling at 183 km/hr in a posted 110 km/hr zone.

As a result, a 21-year-old resident of Newcastle has been charged with race motor vehicle – excessive speed – under the Highway Traffic Act.

Their driver’s license was suspended, and their vehicle has been impounded for fourteen days.

The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on April 7, 2025.
