Belleville Police – Incidents Include MVC, Warrant Arrest, Theft of Cell Phones

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 75 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on February 6, 2025 to 5:00 am on February 7, 2025.

Arrested on Warrant
On the 6th of February at 10:50am, an officer on patrol in the area of Coleman St and Bridge St. W observed a male known to them who was wanted on an outstanding arrest warrant for failing to comply with a Release Order. The officer confirmed the warrant and arrested 49-year-old Dale Green of Belleville. He was held for a bail hearing.

Motor Vehicle Collision
On the 6th of February at 12:18pm, police were called to a two-vehicle collision near the intersection of College St. E and Airport Pkwy. One of the vehicles involved was a city bus. There were no reported injuries. Following the police investigation, a 27-year-old Belleville man was charged with making an unsafe move under the Highway Traffic Act. He was issued a Provincial Offence Notice.

Theft of cell phones
On the 6th of February at 7:43pm, two suspects entered a business on North Front St and proceeded to cut the security wires attached to display cellphones. The suspects then ran out of the store stealing several phones. Police and nearby security officers searched the area for the suspects but were unable to locate them. Police are working with the business to obtain a full description of the suspects and any video in the area.

 

Traffic enforcement leads to suspended drivers
Two separate traffic stops by Belleville Police on the 6th of February resulted in two drivers being charged with driving while suspended.

At 8:09pm, an officer on patrol stopped a vehicle which was driving erratically in the are of Cannifton Rd and Bell Blvd. The officer learned that the 27-year-old driver from Tweed was a suspended driver. The driver was issued a summons for a traffic court date April.

At 10:54pm, an officer on Cannifton Rd received an alert on their Automatic Licence Plate Recognition reader (ALPR) indicating that the vehicle in front of him was registered to a suspended driver. The officer stopped the vehicle and confirmed the driver’s information. As a result, a 20-year-old Belleville resident was charged with driving while suspended. They were issued a summons for a traffic court date in March
