A giant municipal fire drill will take place Sept. 25 to simulate a fire in the Northumberland Forest.
The full field mock emergency-management exercise is being planned by the Township of Alnwick/Haldimand, Alderville First Nation, Northumberland County and community partners. It will run from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. in multiple locations, including the Village of Grafton and the Town of Cobourg as well as the forest.
Plans call for both simulated response elements and live role-playing, the county’s press release said.
Though certain forest trails will remain open for public use, the bulletin added, the Beagle Club parking lot and designated trails within the forest will be closed that day.
