Northumberland OPP – Inmate Charged with Uttering Threats

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual following an investigation at Warkworth Institution.

On September 13, 2024, officers received a report relating to an incident which occurred at the facility on August 10, 2024. A police investigation found that an inmate threatened a number of correctional officers.

As a result, a warrant was issued and on January 14, 2025, Northumberland OPP arrested the individual sought in connection to the incident.

A 37-year-old male, from Brighton, has been charged with:

– Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm.

The accused was held to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
