City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Omemee Man Charged with Impaired (Name Released)

Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) entered into an impaired driving investigation following an interaction at a collision scene.

Officers responded to a report of a single vehicle collision on William Street in Bobcaygeon on Friday January 10, 2025 at approximately 6:26pm. Upon arriving on scene an impaired driving investigation commenced. A red GMC pick-up was involved in the collision when it struck a Hydro pole.

Leo Vandewall, 54-year-old of Omemee, was charged with:

  • Operation while Impaired – Blood Alcohol Concentration over 80

In addition to the charges the driver received a 90-day license suspension, and the motor vehicle was impounded for 7 days.

The accused was released from custody with conditions and will appear later in court.
