Northumberland OPP – Appealing to Public After Recent Incidents of Mischief

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating two separate incidents of mischief in Brighton and Campbellford.

On November 25, 2024, police received a report that someone had used grey spray paint to deface the Pride colored steps leading to the door of a local Church on Prince Edward Street in Brighton. Graffiti was also sprayed on the door and wall of the building. Investigators believe the mischief occurred at around 9:00 p.m. on November 24, 2024, and that three persons were involved.

On December 4, 2024, officers responded to a report of damage caused to the inside of a Community Centre on County Road 38 in Campbellford. An unknown number of suspects spray painted various areas within the building as well as causing damage to internal lights and windows. The mischief occurred sometime overnight between Monday December 2 at 3:00 p.m., and Tuesday December 3, at midday .

Investigators do not believe these incidents to be linked and the investigations are ongoing.
