Cobourg Police – Cobourg Man Charged with Shoplifting, Assault, Uttering Threats, Breach of Probation (No Name Released)

A 32-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after police are called to a shoplifting incident on Tuesday
afternoon.

On Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at approximately 5:30 p.m., police were dispatched to a business in the area of Division Street and University Avenue for the report of a shoplifter in progress. While police were enroute, staff advised that the accused had assaulted and threatened them. No injuries were reported.

Police attended the area and learned that the accused had previously been trespassed from the store and had left the area. Later, on general patrol, police located the individual matching the description provided.

As a result of the police investigation, a 32-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with Theft Under $5,000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Assault, Uttering Threats, Breach of Probation, and Enter Premises When Entry Prohibited under the Trespass to Property Act.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.
