Arson Arrest

A 55-year-old Peterborough woman is charged after a fire Friday evening.

At approximately 8:50pm on October 18, 2024, officers were called to a residence in the Stewart Street and Townsend Street area. Through investigation, it was learned that the fire had been deliberately set by a tenant. No one was injured in the fire.

As a result, a 55-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

Arson, Disregard for Human Life
The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

Assault Arrest

A 44-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges after an incident Friday morning.

At approximately 11:40am on October 18, 2024, officers were called to the area of Charlotte Mews about a disturbance. Upon arrival, officers learned that a woman had been punched in the face. The suspect was located nearby and taken into custody.

As a result of the investigation, a 44-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

Assault – Spousal
Fail to Comply with Probation Order

The accused is currently bound by a probation order with the following conditions to keep the peace and be of good behaviour and to not be in contact with the victim in this case.

The accused was held in custody and appeared in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Saturday, October 19, 2024.

In order to protect the victim in this Intimate Partner Violence incident, the name of the accused will not be released.

 

Assault Arrest

A 17-year-old Peterborough male is facing a charge after an incident Saturday evening.

At approximately 5:45pm on October 19, 2024, officers were called to the area of Brock Street and George Street about a disturbance in a parking lot in which a female was knocked to the ground and then punched and kicked. Upon arrival, officers were approached by a male who turned himself into police.

The female victim was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre for treatment.

As a result of the investigation, a 17-year-old Peterborough male was arrested and charged with:

Assault

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court November 25, 2024.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Code, the name of a young person cannot be released.
