In Police Blotter

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged a person with impaired operation following a public complaint in Campbellford.

On September 11, 2024, at approximately 11:50 p.m., police received a complaint from a member of the public regarding a possible impaired driver on Grand Road in Campbellford. Details regarding the vehicle were provided to officers and OPP observed a vehicle matching the description on County Road 30. Police turned to follow the subject of the complaint and noted that the driver was unable to maintain their lane.

The vehicle was stopped and the officer observed a 5-year-old child in the rear of the vehicle. Following speaking to the driver, police believed the individual to be impaired by alcohol. The accused was arrested and transported to local detachment for further tests.

As a result, a 28-year-old female, from Havelock, has been charged with :

–       Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

–       Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

The individual shall not be named in order to protect the identity of the child. In addition to a future court date, a further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

The OPP remind motorists that no amount of alcohol or drug is acceptable to consume and drive. Report impaired drivers. Should you observe a suspected impaired driver, please dial 911 or contact the Ontario Provincial Police at 1-888-310-1122.
