Peterborough Police – Fourteen-Year-Old Charged with Assaulting Sixty-Seven-Year-Old

A 14-year-old Peterborough female is facing an assault charge after an incident Wednesday afternoon.

At approximately 2:15pm on September 11, 2024, officers were called about an incident that happened near the trail behind Paddock Wood.  Upon arrival to the area, officers learned that a verbal dispute had occurred between a teen and the 67-year-old victim when the victim asked a group of young people to leave the area.  The dispute escalated and the victim was punched in the face causing her to fall. She was then kicked and punched while on the ground.  The victim was taken to Peterborough Regional Health Centre as a precaution.

Through investigation a suspect was identified and on Thursday, September 12, 2024, a 14-year-old Peterborough female turned herself in to Peterborough Police.

As a result, she was charged with:

  • Assault

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court October 28, 2024.

Under the Youth Criminal Justice Act, the name of a young person cannot be released.
