Cobourg Police – Sexual Assault Investigation

A 40-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges in relation to a sexual assault investigation.

On Thursday, September 5th, 2024, the Cobourg Police Service Criminal Investigation Branch opened an investigation after receiving a report of alleged sexual assault of a child.

As a result of the investigation, Jeffrey GARD (40) of Cobourg was arrested and charged with Sexual Interference and Sexual Assault.

The accused was held for a bail hearing.

Cobourg Police Service reminds everyone that there is no statute of limitations for sexual offences, and
offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence. A sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. Police encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police.
