Quinte West OPP – Commercial Vehicle Safety Initiative

Just over half of the commercial vehicles inspected during an initiative in Quinte West were at least temporarily taken out of service.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Highway Safety Division TIME team and the Ministry of Transportation conducted a joint commercial vehicle safety initiative on July 11, 2024.

A total of 21 vehicles were inspected. Eleven (52%) of those were taken out of service until repairs could be completed and seven (33%) had the licence plates removed for serious safety defects.

A total of 22 charges were laid under the Highway Traffic Act. Those included charges related to pre-trip and logbook violations, inoperative brakes, plates not authorized, expired annual inspection and no Commercial Vehicle Operator’s Registration (CVOR).
