Male on Three Separate Release Orders Facing 30 New Charges
A 46-year-old male from Oshawa has been arrested and charged with 30 offences relating to thefts and breaches of court orders.
On Friday, June 21, 2024, members from the Central East Division Criminal Investigation Branch concluded an investigation involving a male who is currently out on three separate release orders. The male, who is well-known to police, committed numerous offences across Durham Region while on probation. There were a total of eight separate incidents that resulted in 30 charges being laid.
The offences consisted of the accused attending gyms/community centres where he broke into lockers stealing wallets, vehicle keys and other personal belongings. He broke into several vehicles and used the stolen credit cards at various retailers.
Members of the Offender Management Unit (OMU) located the accused and he was arrested without incident.
As a result of this investigation Edward POND, age 42 of Oshawa has been charged with: Breach of Probation x16, Fail to Comply with Release Order x6, Break and Enter, Unauthorized Use of Credit Card Data, Possession of Credit Card Obtained by Offence x2, Theft Not Exceeding $5000, Theft Exceeding $5000, Personation to Obtain Property Interest and Possess Property Obtained by Crime Not Exceeding $5000 x2.
He was held for a bail hearing.
