From the 13th day of August, 2018 through the 19th day of August, 2018 the Cobourg Police Service responded to 248 occurrences including; 53 Community Service calls, 23 Police Assistance calls, 5 Traffic Complaints, 5 Fraud calls, 9 Suspicious Person calls, 10 Police Information calls, 15 Property Related calls, 2 Assault calls, 1 Break and Enter Calls, 7 – 911 calls, 11 Theft calls, 5 Motor Vehicle Collisions, 4 Liquor License Act calls, 12 Alarm calls, 6 Harassment calls, 2 Disturb the Peace calls, 2 Threats calls, 5 Noise complaints, 2 Domestic Dispute call, 2 Family Dispute call, 3 Attempt or Threat of Suicide, 4 Mischief calls, 2 weapons. Some examples of calls for service this week include;

Monday, August 13, 2018:

At approximately 16:07hrs Police arrested 24 year old Bowmanville resident Hunter SOL on the strength of an outstanding warrant held by the Cobourg Police Service. SOL was held in the Custody of the Cobourg Police Service scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice for a bail hearing on the 14th day of August 2018.

At approximately 7:00 pm Police responded to Northumberland Hills Hospital after receiving a report of an unwanted female in the area. Police attended, located and spoke with the involved female, who agreed to leave the area without further incident.

Tuesday, August 14, 2018:

Police responded to an east end business at approximately 1:30 pm in regard to a complaint of ongoing mischief. Police investigation revealed that over the past five business days nails and screws appeared to have been thrown onto the roadway at the entrance of the business parking lot. No suspects identified at this time.

Police attended a local business at approximately 12:30pm in regard to a complaint of a female party who appeared to be crouched down in the parking lot behind the business. Police conducted an extensive search of the area but were unable to locate the involved female.

Police investigated a report of an intrusion alarm at local business located in the east end of Cobourg at approximately 6 pm. Officers attended and spoke with staff who remarked everything was in order. Officers determined the alarm to be false.

Wednesday, August 15, 2018

Police responded to the Cobourg Marina at approximately 01:30am, after receiving a report of mischief involving a motor vehicle in the area. Upon arrival Police observed a motor vehicle, which had been covered in toilet paper by unknown parties. No suspects identified at this time.

At approximately 12:15hrs Police located 40 year old Scott MacDonald whom was currently being sought on the strength of an outstanding warrant held by the Cobourg Police Service. As a result Police investigation MacDonald was charged with two counts of failing to comply with Probation under the Criminal Code. MacDonald was released on a Promise to Appear with Undertaking, scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in September 2018.

Police investigated a report of an intrusion alarm at a housing complex located in the east end of Cobourg at approximately 8:30 pm. An extensive search of the building was completed and everything appeared to be in order.

Thursday, August 16, 2018

Police investigated a two vehicle motor vehicle collision in the drive though of a west end business. No injuries reported. No charges laid, as a result of the collision having occurred on private property.

On Thursday the 16th of August, 2018, members of the Durham Regional Police Service located a male who was currently wanted on an outstanding warrant held by the Cobourg Police Service. The resident of Ajax was arrested and charged with three counts of Failing to Comply with Probation under the Criminal Code. The accused was subsequently released on promise to appear, scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice, in September 2018

At approximately 11:00pm Police responded to a west end residence after receiving a report of what was believed to be two gun shots heard in the area. Officers conducted an extensive search of the area and determined the noise was a firework that had been set off in the backyard of a residence in the area.

Friday, August 17, 2018

Police responded to an east end business after receiving a report of entries into three motor vehicles overnight. No damage was observed to the involved vehicles, investigation revealed the vehicles had been left unlocked.

Police conducted traffic enforcement in the West end of Cobourg. As a result of the initiative 12 Provincial Offences Notices were issued under the Highway Traffic Act.

At approximately 3:30pm Police investigated after a resident in the Town of Cobourg had received a counterfeit $10.00 bill. The bill was turned over to the Cobourg Police Service for ongoing investigation.

Saturday, August 18, 2018

At approximately 00:05am Officers conducted a walk though of a west end business. Everything appeared to be in order.

Police attended a local business at approximately 4:00pm in regard to an after the fact reported theft. Police investigation revealed three sound bars had been removed from the business. Investigation continues.

Police responded to a local business in regard to a reported shoplifter. Police investigation determined the involved female had attempted to return stolen items to the business. The involved female party was subsequently placed under arrest for Fraud Under $5,000.00 Under the Criminal Code, later released on a promise to appear.

Sunday, August 19, 2018

At 00:05hrs Police responded to a west end neighborhood after receiving a complaint of loud music in the area. Police attended and subsequently located a large house party in the neighborhood. Police spoke with the homeowner who terminated the party without incident.
At 9:30am Police responded to a residential neighborhood in the downtown core, after receiving a report of graffiti observed in the area. Police investigation revealed that multiple locations had been spray painted over night. Investigation continues.
