The Town of Cobourg is proud to announce that CurlON has selected the West Northumberland Curling Club to host the 2025 Ontario Men’s and Women’s Provincial Championships at the Cobourg Community Centre.
The Ontario Curling Championships will welcome the provinces best men’s and women’s teams to compete for the title of Ontario Champions. The tankard will run from January 20 to 26, 2025 at the Cobourg Community Centre. In addition to earning the provincial title, the women’s team will qualify for the Canadian Scotties Tournament of Hearts scheduled to take place from February 14 to 23, 2025, at Fort William Gardens in Thunder Bay, Ontario. The men’s teams will be competing for the opportunity to represent Ontario at the Montana’s Brier, set to be held from February 28 to March 9, 2025, at Prospera Place in Kelowna, British Columbia.
“We are honoured to have been chosen as the host for the 2025 Ontario Men’s and Women’s Provincial Championships,” said the Organizing Committee of West Northumberland Curling Club, comprised of Linda Laliberte, Jeff Gilmer, and Ian Hartford. “We are committed to delivering a first-class event that celebrates the spirit of curling and showcases the talent and dedication of our athletes.”
The West Northumberland Curling Club was selected to host the 2017 Recharge with Milk Men’s Tankard, and Ontario Scotties Tournament of Hearts. The thrilling week of competition had fans from all over Ontario cheering on their favourite teams. In the end it was team Howard who would lead his team to win their 17th career provincial championship, and team Homan who went on to defend their third Scotties Tournament of Hearts title on home ice in St. Catharines, Ontario.
“We are thrilled to once again have the opportunity to host the Ontario Curling Championships in Cobourg,” says Councillor Brian Darling. “What truly made the 2017 Tankard an event to remember was the sea of blue jacketed volunteers who made certain every detail was thought of. Thanks to the hundreds of volunteer hours put in by this community, the 2017 Tankard was a remarkable success, and we look forward to doing it all again in 2025.”
