Cobourg Police – Cobourg Man Charged with Theft of Beer (No Name Released)

A 32-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after police responded to a theft in progress Thursday morning.

On Thursday, May 30, 2024, at 11:19 a.m., police were dispatched to a business in the northwest part of Cobourg for the report of a theft in progress. Staff advised police that a man left the store with an unpaid case of beer and was currently walking south, consuming one of the beers.

Police located a suspect matching the description provided.

As a result of the investigation, a 32-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with Theft Under $5,000, Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, Having Liquor in an Open Container in an Unauthorized Place (Liquor Licence Control Act), and Breach of Probation.

The accused was held for bail court on Friday, May 31, 2024
