Belleville Police Service – Incidents Include Two People Charged with Impaired Driving, Argument Results in Charges

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 234 calls for service over a period beginning at 5:00 am on May 10, 2024 to 5:00 am on May 13, 2024.

Public helps find impaired driver
A 54-year-old Belleville man is facing impaired driving charges following a traffic complaint received by police Sunday evening.
Shortly before 7 p.m. a member of the public called after noticing a vehicle driving in the city’s east end crossing the centre line several times.
Officers located and stopped the motorist on College Street West a short time later.
Following an investigation into the state of the driver, 54-year-old Darren McCambridge of Belleville was arrested and charged with Impaired Operation and Operate with Over 80mg.
He was released from police custody with a court date of June 13.

Argument results in charges
A 34-year-old Belleville man has a June court date following an argument with a cab driver in a Bell Boulevard parking lot over the weekend.
Officers were dispatched to the parking lot shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday for a report of a disturbance.
Upon arrival, police were told a man became irate when speaking with a cab driver and started striking the window of his cab. In addition, the male threatened the driver.
Charged with Uttering Threats and Mischief Under $5,000 is Paul Johnston, 34, of Belleville. Johnston was released with a court date of June 13.

Branch-swinging culprit arrested
Shortly after 5 p.m. Saturday, police were called to an area of the downtown after a male was reportedly screaming and swinging a large tree branch at strangers walking by his location.
Officers arrived and found the 30-year-old Quinte West man agitated and aggressive and still holding onto branch.
With the tree limb removed from his possession by officers, he was arrested on charges of Causing a Disturbance and Breach of Probation.
The male was held for a bail hearing.

Impaired driving charge
Police were dispatched to the scene of a minor accident at Station and Emily streets shortly before midnight, Friday.
While enroute to the call, further information was received by police that one of the drivers involved was potentially impaired.
Following an investigation into incident, a female motorist was arrested.
Charged with Over 80mgs (having more than the legal limit of alcohol in blood while driving) was Rebecca Running, 34, of Belleville.
Running was released on an undertaking with a May 27 court date.
