Belleville City Police – Incidents Include Stunt Driver and Single Vehicle Collision

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 63 calls for service over a 24-hour period beginning at 5:00 am on March 20, 2024 to 5:00 am on March 21, 2024.

Stunt Driver
On the 20th of March at 10:48am, an officer with the Traffic Safety Unit was conducting speed enforcement on North Front Street in the area of Donald Street when a vehicle was observed travelling at an extremely high rate of speed. The vehicle’s speed was confirmed at 133km/h in a 50 km/h zone. A 24-year-old female was charged with Stunt Driving and issued a summons with a court date in May. Her driver’s license was suspended immediately for 30 days and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days.

Single Vehicle Collision
On the 20th of March at 3:41pm, Belleville Police responded to an “Apple Watch Crash Detection” on Shannon Rd west of Scuttlehole Road in Thurlow Township. Upon arrival officers located the scene of a single motor vehicle collision involving a Hastings-Quinte EMS ambulance. The ambulance was not carrying a patient at the time of the collision. Two HQEMS paramedics were transported to the Belleville General Hospital with minor injuries. Shannon Road was closed to traffic for nearly four hours while police investigated the collision and the scene was cleaned up. The Traffic Safety Unit is continuing the investigation.
