Northumberland OPP – Two Vehicle Collision Leads to Arrest for Impaired (Name Released)

One person has been charged after a police investigation into a two-vehicle collision.

On March 6, 2024, at approximately 9:00 p.m., members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Municipality of Trent Hills Fire Department and Emergency Medical Services (EMS), responded to a report of a collision between two passenger vehicles on County Road 25 in the Municipality of Trent Hills.

Police arrived and during the investigation, an officer utilised an Approved Screening Device (ASD). The driver was arrested for impaired operation and transported to a detachment for further testing. The driver of the second vehicle was treated by EMS prior to attending a local hospital for minor injuries.

Farisai MUNZVENGI, 32-years-old from North York has been charged with:

·        Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

·        Operate a motor vehicle without insurance.

A further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
