City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Highway 7 Closed Due to Fatal Collision

Members of the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have closed Highway 7 for a serious collision involving two vehicles, east of Omemee.

On December 14, 2023, at approximately 7:40 a.m., officers responded, alongside with Kawartha Lakes Fire and EMS, to a head on collision involving two motor vehicles at the intersection of Highway 7 and Emily Park Road.

The driver, a 21 -year-old male from Manilla, was pronounced deceased at the scene, a 22-year-old male of Sunderland, was airlifted to a Toronto area Trauma Center where their injuries were reported as life threatening. The other driver, a 44-year-old male from Oshawa was transported to a local area hospital.

Highway 7 is closed from Emily Park Road to Orange Corners Road for the foreseeable future while members of the OPP Traffic Incident Management Team (T.I.M.E.) conduct their investigation.
