Northumberland OPP – Cobourg Man Facing Charges (Name Released)

An individual is facing a number of charges after being stopped for travelling at 158 kilometers per hour (km/h) in a posted 100 km/h zone.

On November 26, 2023 at approximately 11:45 p.m., a member of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting speed enforcement on Highway 401 in Hamilton Township.

Roderick NEWMAN, 31-years-old-old, from Cobourg, was arrested and charged with:

  • Drive Motor Vehicle – Perform stunt – Excessive speed
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available
  • Possess more than one licence.

The accused received an additional 30-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 14-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg at a future date.
