Belleville Police Service Statement on the Crime Stoppers Data Breach

In Police Blotter

The Belleville Police Service is aware of a cybersecurity incident involving Navigate360, the third-party provider of the P3 tip management platform used by Crime Stoppers programs across Canada.

While Quinte Crime Stoppers remains a valued community partner and plays an important role in supporting public safety across our region, the Belleville Police Service is temporarily suspending the use and promotion of the Quinte Crime Stoppers tip line and online reporting portal as a precautionary measure while further information regarding the incident is reviewed.

Crime Stoppers operates independently from police services. While information received through Crime Stoppers may be shared with police for investigative follow-up, the Quinte Crime Stoppers program and its P3 platform are separate from the Belleville Police Service and any internal police systems.

Community safety remains our top priority. During this suspension, members of the public who wish to provide information are encouraged to contact the Belleville Police Service directly. While this does not provide the anonymity associated with the Crime Stoppers program, it will ensure information is received directly by investigators.

· Online Reporting: https://www.bellevilleps.ca/e-reporting/

· Non-Emergency Line: 613-966-0882

· In an emergency or if a crime is in progress, call 9-1-1

The Belleville Police Service will continue to work with Quinte Crime Stoppers and will provide updates as additional information becomes available.

Anyone with questions regarding the cybersecurity incident can contact the Canadian Crime Stoppers Association at information@canadiancrimestoppers.ca or visit www.canadiancrimestoppers.org.
