Cobourg Police – Sixteen-Year-Old Youth Charged with Sexual Assault

In Police Blotter

A 16-year-old youth has been arrested following an investigation into a sexual assault.

In July 2026, the Cobourg Police Service Criminal Investigation Bureau opened an investigation after receiving information that a youth was sexually assaulted in the Town of Cobourg.

As a result of the investigation, on October 26, 2026, a 16-year-old youth was arrested and charged with sexual assault.

The accused was released on a Youth Criminal Justice Act Undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

Cobourg Police Service reminds everyone that there is no statute of limitations for sexual offences, and offenders can be prosecuted well after the date of the offence. Sexual assault includes any non-consensual contact of a sexual nature. Police encourage anyone who feels they may have been a victim of a sexual assault to come forward and report the incident to police.
