City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Seeking Public Assistance in Shoplifting Investigation

The City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking the assistance in identifying an individual involved in a shoplifting incident at a liquor store in Omemee.

On Tuesday, September 22, 2026, shortly after 4:00 p.m., police were notified of a theft that occurred at approximately 2:20 p.m. at a liquor store located on King Street in Omemee. Investigation revealed that a male entered the store, selected a bottle of alcohol, and concealed it inside his pants. The male then proceeded to the checkout area with additional merchandise and paid for those items however, he failed to pay for the concealed bottle of alcohol before leaving the store.

Police are seeking to identify the individual and are releasing an image captured by video surveillance.

The individual is described as a white male, approximately 5’8″, with short sandy-brown hair, a goatee, and a mustache. At the time of the incident, he was wearing a black shirt, black pants, a silver chain necklace, and red and blue running shoes, with sunglasses resting on top of his head.

Police are asking anyone who recognizes the individual or has information related to this incident to contact the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP at 1-888-310-1122. To remain anonymous, tips can be provided through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
