A resident contacted police after finding what appeared to be a grenade while sorting through the belongings of a family member who had previously served in the military. As a precaution, the home was evacuated, and the area was secured.
The Ontario Provincial Police Explosive Ordnance Disposal Unit, with assistance from personnel from Canadian Forces Base Trenton, attended the scene and safely removed the grenade. The incident was resolved without issue.
Police remind residents that if they discover a suspected explosive, military item, ammunition, or other potentially dangerous object, they should not touch, move, or attempt to dispose of it. Instead, leave the area, keep others away, and contact police immediately.
