The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is seeking the public’s assistance as officers investigate overnight thefts from vehicles in Brighton.
On August 22, 2026, a resident on Pinnacle Street North contacted police after reviewing CCTV footage which showed an unknown individual attempting to gain access to a vehicle on their property at approximately 3:00 a.m. before leaving the area.
Officers also received two additional reports of thefts from vehicles believed to have occurred overnight.
A resident on Young Street reported that a financial document, gift cards, loose change, and personal belongings had been stolen from their vehicle.
A third complainant advised that Canadian currency and gift cards were taken from a vehicle on Alice Street.
As part of these ongoing investigations, the OPP is releasing an image of an individual captured on CCTV in the area.
Police are asking anyone who can identify the person, or who has information related to these incidents, to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 and reference incident number E261214462.

The Northumberland OPP reminds residents that thefts from vehicles are often crimes of opportunity. Vehicle owners can help reduce the risk of becoming a victim by ensuring their doors are locked and by removing valuables from plain view.
Lock It or Lose It: Always lock your vehicle and take valuables with you. Leaving cash, gift cards, electronics, identification, or other personal items inside an unattended vehicle may attract thieves.
