Belleville Police – Driver Charged in Fail to Remain After Collision (Name Released)

On July 15, 2026, at approximately 7:20 p.m., Belleville Police responded to a two-vehicle collision near Wallbridge Crescent and Moira Street West.

Upon arrival, officers observed a damaged vehicle near the intersection. It was reported that one vehicle had been travelling at a high rate of speed when it struck another vehicle.

Immediately after the collision, witnesses observed the suspect vehicle continue driving in a damaged condition before the driver turned onto Murney Street, where the driver abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot.

Officers searched the area and located the male suspect at 7:44 p.m. in the area of Bridge Street West and Sidney Street. He was taken into custody without incident.

As a result of the police investigation, Allen Martell, a 55-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with:

· Failure to stop after accident

· Dangerous operation

He was released on an Undertaking with a court date in October.

The driver of the other vehicle sustained minor injuries.
