Quinte West OPP – Two Arrested Following Discovery of Trip Wires (Names Released)

The Quinte West Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested two individuals for creating traps intended to cause injuries, when investigating a recent break and enter.

On Friday, July 3, 2026, the OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) assisted by the OPP Tactics and Rescue Unit (TRU), Emergency Response Team (ERT) and Canine Unit attended Parks Canada property on Subway Road, Trenton, to investigate a recent theft that had occurred in the Quinte West area. Police discovered trip wires that had been set up to deter individuals from entering the area, which were then safely disarmed and dismantled.

Calvin PATRICK, 40 years old of Quinte West has been charged with the following offences:

Traps likely to cause bodily harm

Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order x2

Possession of a schedule I substance – Methamphetamine

Mischief – destroys or damages property

Shane TURNCLIFFE, 44 years old of Quinte West has been charged with the following offences:

Traps likely to cause bodily harm

Possession of firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order x2

Mischief – destroys or damages property

Both individuals were released from custody and are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Belleville on August 13, 2026.
