Durham Regional Police – Durham College Employee Arrested Following Child Luring and Sexual Exploitation Investigation

A male is facing several charges following a child luring and child sexual abuse and exploitation material investigation in Whitby.

In late 2025, investigators with the Internet Child Exploitation Unit began an investigation into a male alleged to have lured a 12-year-old and 13-year-old female through Reddit and Snapchat into sending sexual abuse and exploitation materials. The suspect operated under the usernames DeliveryNormal7189 on Reddit and manu041.01 on Snapchat.

In 2026, investigators with the Internet Child Exploitation Unit executed a search warrant at the suspect’s residence in Whitby. Several electronic devices were located and seized. The suspect was located in the residence and taken into custody without incident.

The suspect is an employee at Durham College, and police have concerns there may be further victims.

Manu SUGUNAKUMAR, age 23 from Whitby is charged with: Luring Person Under 16 to Facilitate Sexual Assault x2, Luring Person Under 16 to Facilitate Sexual Interference x2, Luring Person Under 18 to Facilitate Making Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material x3, Make Sexually Explicit Material Available to Peron Under 18 for the Purpose of Facilitating Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Material, Luring Person Under 16 to Facilitate Invitation to Sexual Touching, and Publish Intimate Image Without Consent.

He was held for a bail hearing.
