The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual following a two-vehicle collision in Brighton.
On April 28, 2026, at approximately 6:00 p.m., police responded to a motor vehicle collision on Main Street in the Municipality of Brighton. No injuries were reported in the collision, which involved a pickup truck and a passenger vehicle.
After speaking with one of the motorists involved, OPP began an impaired operation investigation which resulted in one person being taken into custody.
Shawn PIASENTIN (51) from the Municipality of Brighton, has been charged with:
· Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
· Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in June 2026. A 90-day Administrative Driver’s Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a seven-day vehicle impound were also imposed.
