City of Kawartha Lakes OPP – Fatal Single Motor Vehicle Collision in Kirkland

Members from the City of Kawartha Lakes Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating a single motor vehicle collision that took place around 7:00 a.m., on Satruday, March 7, 2026.

City of Kawartha Lakes OPP along with Kawartha Lakes fire and Kawartha Lakes EMS were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision on Elm Tree Road between Star Road and Riley Lane in Kirkfield. Upon arrival a 51-year-old fe male of Kirkfield was transported to a local area hospital and was later pronounced deceased because of her injuries.

Elm Tree Road is closed between Star Road and Riley Lane while members trained in collision reconstruction measured and documented the scene. The cause of the collision remains under investigation.

Anyone who may have witnessed or has video/dash camera footage of the collision and has not spoken with police is asked to contact the City of Kawartha Lakes OPP Detachment at 1-888-310-1122.
