Five unanswered goals in the third period gave the Northumberland Stars a 7-3 victory over the St. George Ravens on Friday night at the Keeler Centre in Colborne.
The win completed a three-game sweep for the Stars in the second round of the Greater Metro Jr. A Hockey League playoffs.
Northumberland edged host St. George 5-4 in overtime in the best-of-five series opener Tuesday and then took a two-game lead with a 4-1 Thursday night in Colborne prior to Friday night’s game.
That marks five straight playoff wins for the Stars, which swept the opening round three-game series two straight over the Richmond Hill Rampage.
The Stars, which finished the regular season in first place with a 37-4-0-1 record, now advance to round three for the first time. They will meet the winner of the series between the Durham Roadrunners and Niagara Predators.
