Belleville Police – Incidents Include Driver Charged with Impaired, Theft of Motor Vehicle, Fail to Comply

Total calls for service – Belleville Police responded to 261 calls for service beginning at 5:00 am on February 20, 2026 to 5:00 am on February 23, 2026.

Driver Charged with Impaired
On February 23rd at 12:04am, Belleville Police responded to a report of a single vehicle collision in the city’s west end. Upon arrival, officers observed the suspect vehicle in a ditch, as well as a male walking away from the vehicle. Upon speaking with the male, officers observed signs of impairment.
As a result of investigation, James Patterson, 36-year-old Frankford man, was arrested and charged with Operation while impaired – alcohol and Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80mg. He was released on an Undertaking with a scheduled court date in April.

Theft of Motor Vehicle
On February 21st at 10:19pm, Belleville Police responded to a report of an erratic driver in the city’s west end. It was reported that a vehicle was observed in a ditch, and after exiting the ditch, it continued driving westbound. Other witnesses reported observing the vehicle driving erratically, losing traction, driving close to parked vehicles, and driving on a pedestrian trail.
Officers located the suspect vehicle in a snowbank nearby. Further investigation revealed that the driver had entered a vehicle at a business and began driving it. Officers discovered a damaged gate at the business, which the vehicle had driven through to exit.

As a result of police investigation, a 37-year-old Belleville man, was arrested and charged with:
· Dangerous operation
· Theft of motor vehicle
· Break and enter
· Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
· Mischief over $5,000
· Failure to comply with a release order

He was held for a bail hearing.

Warrant
On February 20th at 9:35pm, Belleville Police responded to a report regarding a female’s wellbeing in the city’s east end. Upon locating and speaking with the female, it was discovered that she had an outstanding Belleville Police Service arrest warrant for failing to comply with a release order.
As a result of police investigation, a 38-year-old Belleville woman of no fixed address, was arrested on the strength of the warrant, and charged additionally with:
· Fail to comply with a release order X4
· Fail to comply with a probation order
· Possession of a Schedule I substance – cocaine

She was held for a bail hearing
