In Police Blotter

The Peterborough Police Service is advising the public about an incident on December 31, 2025, involving a firearm that was discharged inside of a west-end Peterborough residence.

At approximately 7:00pm on Wednesday, December 31, 2025, officers were called to a residence in the Ireland Drive and Ravenwood Drive area regarding a firearm that had discharged while inside one house and with the bullet then striking and entering a second neighbouring home. No one was injured in either home.

The individual and legal owner of the firearm is an off-duty Peterborough Police Service officer. The firearm that was discharged was seized at the time of the incident and is not a service-issued firearm.

The investigation is still ongoing and at this time charges have not been laid.

“This is understandably a very troubling incident, and the Peterborough Police Service is thankful that no one was injured. Any further details will be released when available.” Stuart Betts, Chief, Peterborough Police Service.
