Peterborough Police – Peterborough Man Wanted for Second-Degree Murder Arrested

A 44-year-old Peterborough man wanted for second-degree murder in connection with a homicide in Peterborough December 6, 2025 has been located and taken into custody.

At approximately 3:00pm on December 26, 2025, officers with Investigative Services Unit became aware the suspect was in Peterborough.  The Emergency Response Team (ERT) went to a residence in the Dalhousie Street and Aylmer Street area in Peterborough.  Once officers called out to the suspect, the man exited the residence and surrendered to police.

As a result, 44-year-old Michael Waterman of Peterborough was arrested and charged with second degree murder.

The accused is being held in custody and will appear in Weekend and Statutory Holiday (WASH) court on Saturday, December 27, 2025.

Waterman was also wanted in connection with a homicide in Durham Region on December 23, 2025.

The Peterborough Police Service would like to thank the public for their continued vigilance over the past several weeks as well as colleagues at the Belleville Police Service and Durham Regional Police Service.  The search is now over for suspects in the December 6th homicide and all persons believed to be involved will now be before the court.
