Northumberland OPP – Two Quebec Facing Charges in Relation to Stolen Vehicle (Names Released)

In Police Blotter

Officers from the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have recovered a stolen vehicle and charged two persons following a traffic stop on Highway 401.
On December 18, 2025, at around 9:50 a.m., an officer was on patrol on Highway 401 in the Township of Cramahe, when the in-cruiser Automated Licence Plate Recognition (ALPR) system alerted them to a stolen vehicle travelling westbound. The vehicle was believed to be stolen within the past few days from a location in Quebec.

A number of cruisers were involved in stopping the pick-up truck and two individuals were taken into custody.

Christopher URIZAR-SANTOS (20) from Blainville, Quebec, was charged with:

Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Sergio URIZAR-SANTOS (24) from Blainville, Quebec, was charged with:

Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000

Both accused were held for bail to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.

ALPR technology is now installed in OPP patrol vehicles and plays a vital role in enhancing public safety.

These systems automatically scan licence plates and compare them against databases to identify stolen vehicles, suspended drivers, missing persons, and other public safety concerns. Officers receive real-time alerts, allowing for swift and informed action on Ontario’s roads.
