Northumberland OPP – Cobourg Woman Charged Following Collision (Name Released)

Members of the Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have charged a driver following a single-vehicle collision in the Municipality of Trent Hills.

On December 9, 2025, shortly before 3:00 p.m., officers responded to a report of a pickup truck in the ditch in the area of County Road 25 and Dominion Street.

After speaking with the driver, officers initiated an impaired driving investigation. The individual was taken into custody and transported to a local detachment

As a result, Kirsten HASTED (50) from Cobourg, has been charged with:

– Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

– Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in January 2026. A further 90-day Administrative Driver License Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

Whether you are impaired by alcohol or drugs, impaired is impaired and driving under the influence of either is a criminal offence. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.
