Festive RIDE Program

Officers with the Peterborough Police Service conducted two Festive RIDE checks this weekend.

In all there were over 750 vehicles checked over the two nights in several different locations in Peterborough and Lakefield.

There was an arrest for impaired driving each night.

At approximately 10:15pm on Friday, December 5, 2025, a vehicle was stopped at a RIDE check on Lansdowne Street between River Road and Ashburnham Drive.

As a result, a 39-year-old Peterborough man was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was issued a 90-day automatic license suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment.

A small child was in the vehicle at the time.

The accused was released on an appearance notice and is scheduled to appear in court January 13, 2025.

At approximately 10:30pm on Saturday, December 6, 2025, a vehicle was stopped at a RIDE check on Hunter Street between Sheridan Street and Burnham Street.

As a result, a 41-year-old Peterborough woman was arrested and charged with:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)
  • Driver fail to surrender license (Highway Traffic Act)

The accused was issued an automatic 90-day license suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment.

The accused was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in court January 20, 2026.

 

Homicide Investigation

The investigation into a homicide early Saturday morning, December 6, 2025, is ongoing.

Original Release

There will be Peterborough Police presence at an apartment building in the Brock Street and Aylmer Street area for a homicide investigation.

Officers were called to the building around 6:00am on Saturday, December 6, 2025, and located a severely injured man in an apartment.

Despite life saving efforts, a 33-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

It is believed to be an isolated incident.
