Cobourg Police – Traffic Stop Leads to Arrest and Drug Seizure (Name Released)

On October 29, 2025, at approximately 12:30 a.m., police conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle driven by an individual wanted on an outstanding warrant. During the stop, officers observed a male passenger in possession of a controlled substance. As a result, the passenger was arrested. Upon arrest, police located approximately 379 grams of suspected Fentanyl, 45.64 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine and a quantity of cash. The amount of Fentanyl is equal to a potential 3,790 lethal doses. The estimated total street value of the drug seized is approximately $156,200.

As a result of the police investigation, the driver was charged with failing to attend. The passenger, Kyle Grieder (39) of Hamilton Township, was charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purposes of trafficking, possession of proceeds of crime and failure to comply with a probation order. The accused was held in custody pending a Show Cause Hearing
