Northumberland OPP – Two Drivers Charged with Impaired Operation (Names Released)

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged two individuals with impaired operation in unrelated incidents.

On October 26, 2025, at approximately 8:30 a.m., an OPP cruiser was traveling westbound on Highway 401 in the Township of Hamilton when it was passed by a passenger vehicle at a high rate of speed.

The vehicle was stopped, and after speaking with the driver, the officer began an impaired driving investigation. The individual was transported to a local detachment for further testing.

Paul STEWART (50), of Oshawa, has been charged with:

Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

On October 26, 2025, shortly after 9:00 p.m., police responded to a report of a vehicle being driven without lights along County Road 50 in the Municipality of Trent Hills.

Officers located the vehicle and, after speaking with the driv er, entered into an impaired driving investigation. The motorist was taken into custody and transported to a local detachment for further testing.

As a result, Tui MCGREGOR (47), of Havelock, has been charged with:

Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs

Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

Care or control of a motor vehicle with liquor readily available

Both accused are due to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg in December. A further 90-day Administrative Driver Licence Suspension (ADLS) and a 7-day vehicle impound was initiated as per statute.

If you know or suspect that a driver is impaired by alcohol or drugs, call 9-1-1. In doing so, you may save a life. Whether you are impaired by alcohol or drugs, impaired is impaired and driving under the influence of either is a criminal offence. If you plan on drinking or consuming drugs, plan to not drive. Instead, arrange for a designated driver, take a taxi or public transit, or come up with another plan that takes impaired driving out of the picture.
