Northumberland OPP – Suspicious Vehicle Leads to Drug Arrest (Name Released)

The Northumberland Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has charged an individual following a report of a suspicious vehicle.

On May 21, 2025, at around 6:15 p.m., a concerned member of the public advised police that there was a vehicle parked on Birch Road which had also been there earlier in the day.

While on their way to the location, officers stopped a vehicle matching the description provided by the caller. Through investigation, it was found that the driver was wanted on a warrant.

The individual was taken into custody and returned on the strength of the warrant. A search yielded a quantity of Canadian currency, approximately 360 grams of suspected Cocaine and around 150 suspected opioid pills.

On July 17, 2025, Northumberland OPP arrested the individual in relation to the items found in the search.

As a result, Daniel HULME (age 46), from Cobourg, has been charged with:

– Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Cocaine

– Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the purpose of trafficking – Opioid

– Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

The accused was held to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Cobourg.
