Cobourg Police – Incidents Include Assault, Shoplifting, Trespassing (No Names Released)

A 53-year-old Cobourg man is facing charges after police responded to an assault in progress at a residence in Cobourg on Thursday evening.

On June 19, 2025, at approximately 7:50 p.m., police responded to a report of a male pushing a female down the front steps of a residence in the south end of Cobourg.

Police attended the residence and located two individuals matching the description provided. As a result of the investigation, a 53-year-old Cobourg man was arrested and charged with assault-spousal. The accused was held for a bail hearing.


A Brighton man and Campbellford woman are facing charges after police responded to a shoplifting incident on Thursday.

On June 19, 2025, at approximately 3:30 p.m., police responded to a report of shoplifting in progress at a business on Elgin Street West in Cobourg. Officers located two suspects in a neighbouring store. The investigation revealed that the suspects had stolen several items from the store and concealed them in a vehicle before the police arrived.

As a result of the investigation, an 18-year-old man from Brighton and a 42-year-old woman from Campbellford were arrested and charged with Theft Under $5,000 and property obtained by crime under $5,000. Both individuals were released on an undertaking with a future court date.


Cobourg man issued Provincial Offences Notice under the Trespass to Property Act.
On June 19, 2025, at approximately 11:30 a.m., police responded to a report of a male trespassing at an address on Division Street. Officers attended and issued a Provincial Offences Notice to the 27-year-old Cobourg man for trespassing and escorted him off the property.
